Blogging and Network Marketing

When I have to either give a talk to train people in my niche, or to commit it to print, it serves to clarify my own thinking and direction. Even though I have had this experience many times, it never fails to astonish me. Writing posts about has helped me to clear the mists and to see quite clearly what I should be using my web log for.

As I have already hinted at, in my previous posts, can be adapted for many uses. They can be used as a marketing tool to perhaps provide extra information about specific products or service that your business offers. A blog can be monetized so that it actually becomes your business. It could also be used by you to brand yourself.

I have mentioned that if you wish to use it as a or as the principal income generator, then you should focus all of your efforts on frequent and regular posting to your blog. I have also indicated that using your blog this way can lock you into blogging as a job. Stop blogging and you jeopardize your earning potential.

Liz, my wonderful better half, loves cooking and is in fact head of the Food Technology department at her school. She has often been asked by other members of the school staff if she could suggest recipes for meals that are quick to prepare, because so many busy people dread the thought of getting home after a tough days’ work, only to face a long time preparing the family’s evening meal.

Because of this, Liz has started a blog on “quick to prepare” meals complete with recipes. She is intending her blog to become a major recipe resource center for busy people. The recipes are freely available and each has the recipe and shopping list on downloadable MS Word document meaning that it can be printed out and the shopping list can be taken to the supermarket. Why not take a look at her recipe for “Mock Banoffee Pudding”. Takes less than 5 minutes to prepare and it is delicious. Here’s the link: http://gotitfigured.net/meals/?p=11 .

Why am I telling you this? Because it is providing people with a very useful resource and Liz can benefit by monetizing it using and Amazon context ads, for example. Since the ads are context sensitive, they will be a great addition in helping people to other centers of information as well as providing Liz with some financial reward for helping her readers. This is a typical example of Blogging for Dollars. Liz has the advantage that she is passionate about cooking and absolutely loves trying out new recipes, so posting frequently and regularly is not going to be a chore.

With me it’s a different story. When I first got into blogging, I really was clueless about how I should best use my blog. I was persuaded to post regularly so I got stuck in to a daily post routine. The trouble was that I experienced frequent bouts of , so I cut back the frequency to twice a week. Writers block was still a curse and breaking through it meant writing posts just for the sake of maintaining frequency and regularity.

The result was a marked decline in content. I tried buying (PLR) articles with a view to getting ideas of subject to post about, but their seemed a distinct shortage of PLR’s. So, I decided to broaden the spectrum of my subject and write on issues but I soon became uncomfortable with that.

You see, my passion is not “home based business”, it is network marketing. I hope that visitors to my blog will want to know the truth about what I feel about issues to do with . With prospective new team members, it will give them a a chance to decide whether they feel they could work with me and if I can be of some help to them. I am using my blog for self-branding - a distasteful term don’t you think?

So I have decided to only post on network marketing issues and only when I think my posts will be of assistance to my readers. This, of course means that my posts will not be regular or frequent, but more importantly, they will be a true reflection of my view on the subject under discussion.

You may not agree with my views and you may wish to give your point of view by posting a comment. I hope I will always be open-minded and I will always try and reply to your comments. Given the distinct possibility that future posts may be a little irregular, I would suggest you submit your email address in the form on the right, to subscribe to my future posts. You can always un-subscribe at any time.

So there you have it. I think you’ve probably had more than your fill of my views on blogging, except to say that if you are going to blog, make sure you determine why you are going to blog, before you start.
