Is There A Down Side To Blogging?

The last couple of posts have been scratching the surface of , directly from a blog and using your blog as a marketing tool for your . There is a wealth of evidence that blogging can be rewarding both personally and financially, but I feel that blogging presents the same problem as any orthodox occupation or business.

Like a job, the moment you lose it, you stop earning. The moment your business closes it’s doors, even for the night, it stops earning you a living. The moment you stop posting to your blog, you start losing your readership. Start losing your readership and you lose your source of income.

I was listening in to a TV program the other day and there was a lady who, with her husband, had opened a traditional “bricks and mortar” business with a view to having more time to spend with each other and their children - quality time as some refer to it. After several of years hard graft, she had to admit that although the business was running well and growing, the amount of quality time was less now than it was before starting their business. I believe this is not unusual and many business owners complain that going into business for themselves is nothing more than providing themsleves with a job, rather than asking someone else for work.

I suspect from the fact that BlogRovr has been well accepted that many bloggers may feel rather like they’ve done the same. Have they just found themselves a that they are locked into, having to continue to post in order to protect their ? I would love to know what the professional bloggers are doing to solve this problem. Anyone? I’d love to have some feedback on this.
